FAQ

When Making Reservations
Please notify the travel agency or our reservation center of where you may be reached in case of reservation changes.

Reconfirmation
If you break your journey for more than 72 hours at any point and hold a continuing or return reservation on MIAT Mongolian Airlines, please reconfirm your intention of using that reservation. To do so, please inform the MIAT office at the point where you intend to resume your journey at least 72 hours before departure of your fight. Failure to reconfirm may result in the cancellation of your reservation.

Validity
Normal fare tickets are validity for one year from the commencement of travel (or from the date of issue if no portion of the ticket has been used).
Certain fares (mostly discounted fares for excursion, groups or inclusive tours) restrict the validity of your tickets, the dates of your journeys or voluntary changes of routing.
When in doubt, please check with your booking office.

Coupon Sequence
Flight coupons must be used in sequence from the place of departure as shown on the passengers’s coupon.

Application for Refund
Applications for refunds should be made not later than thirty (30) days after the expiry date of ticket or miscellaneous charges order (MCO).

Free Baggage Allowance
2. Flights
a) Business Class
Total weight of checked baggage up to 30kg (66 lbs)
b) Economy Class
Total weight of checked baggage up to 20kg (44 lbs)

Carry-on Baggage
Carry-on baggage should, in principle, be limited to such as can be put beneath the seat.
Baggage must not exceed the total linear dimensions of 115cm (40 inches)

Excess Baggage
Baggage exceeding the free baggage allowance may be carried at an excess baggage charge. For details about such charges, please check with the nearest MIAT office or your travel agent.

Valuables
The following items should not be included i checked baggage:
Cash, jewelry & precious stones, stocks & bonds, antiques, watches, cameras, glass items, etc. MIAT will not be held responsible for the loss or damage to valuables or fragile objects.

Dangerous Articles
It is dangerous, and therefore forbidden to take any of the articles listed below in baggage, either checked or unchecked:
Explosives, compressed gases, flammable liquids and solids (including matches or lighter fuel in large quantities), corrosives, radioactive materials, magnetized materials, offensive or irritating substances and other articles liable to harm passengers or damage aircraft or cargo.
Firearms, swords and other similar items should not be carried in cabin.

Note
The use of the following electronic/ electronic equipment on board the aircraft is prohibited in order to prevent interference with aircraft electronics: portable telephones and transceivers, pagers, portable TV’s, FM radio receivers, wireless headphones, computer printers, etc.
Computers (word processors, personal computers), video cameras, cassette tape recorders/players, CD players, etc. may not be used during take off and landing of the aircraft.
At the departure gate, a body search and an inspection of carry-on baggage is sometimes necessary.
All valuables must be kept in carry-on baggage.

Passport:
Required, except for holders of:
1 documents issued to stateless persons.

Visa:
Required, except for:
1. nationals of Mongolia
2. Business stay of max. 90 days: nationals of Kazakhstan;
3. Nationals of Cuba, Korea (Dem. People’s Rep.), Laos and Vietnam, irrespective of purpose of visit or duration of stay;
4. diplomatic or official passports:
a) a stay of max. 3 months: Bulgaria, Czech Rep., Hungary, Slovak Rep., Turkey;
b) for a stay of max. 1 month: Korea Rep., Thailand;
5. stay of max. 14 days:
a) nationals: Poland, Romania.
However, passenger should hold invitation letter if coming for business purposes;
b. nationals of Singapore if coming for business purposes; 6. nationals of Malaysia if coming for;
a.touristic stay of max.14 days; or
b. business stay of max.1 month;
7. nationals of Philippines if coming for:
a.touristic stay of max. 14 days; or
b.business stay of max. 21 days;
8. nationals of China(People’s Rep):
a.holding normal passports endorsed”for public affairs”, diplomatic of service passports; or
b.travelling with group holding group visa.

Hungary (Budapest), India (Delhi), Italy (Trieste), Japan (Tokyo), Kazakhstan (Almaty), Korea Dem. People’s Rep. (Pyongyang), Korea Rep. (Seoul), Laos (Vientiane), Poland (Warsaw), Romania (Bucharest), Russian Fed. (Irkutsk, Moscow, Ulan-Ude), Singapore, Switzerland (Geneva), Ukraine (Kiev), United Kingdom (London), U.S.A. (New York, Washington), Vietnam (Hanoi);
2. Upon arrival: Visas issued after confirmation from the Government of Mongolia and private organization. Visitor is required to hold 2 passport photos.

Health:
No vaccinations are required to enter Mongolia from any country.

Tax
Airport tax is levied on all passengers departing from Mongolia. Fee: USD 12.-.

Customs
Import: free import:
1. 200 cigarettes, 50 cigars and 250 grams of tobacco;
2. 1 litre vodka, 2 litres of wine, and 3 litres of beer;
3. 3 bottles of perfume.

Additional information:
1. Following items must be declared on arrival:
archeological artifacts, ancient books and manuscripts,art, electronic goods.
2. Mongolia is member of the CITES (see Terms & Definitions).s
Prohibited: books, film, tape or other medium that may be considered violent or pornographic8 narcotics or psychoactive substances or their accessories;
Restrictions: archeological or palaeontological artifacts, firearms and spare parts, over-the-counter medicines, poisons, radioactive or chemical elements, samples of animals or plants for analysis, weapons;

Pets
Dogs and cats require a Good Health Certificate.
Export: free export;
1. 200 cigarettes;
2. 2 liters of alcoholic beverages;
3. a reasonable quantity of perfume for personal use.

Baggage clearance
baggage is cleared at the first airport of entry.

Currency

Import: allowed.
-Local currency (Mongolian Tugrik - MNT): up to MNT 815.- provided holding bank certificate and declared on arrival.
-foreign currencies: up to USD2,000.
Export: allowed.
-Local currency: up to the amount indicated on a bank certificate and declared on arrival.
Foreign currencies: up to the amount imported and declared.
